First Lecture.

Position on the Congas & the 3 Basic Sounds

For Begginers.

Positions on the congas is escencial to master

all sounds the congas can produce.

The Conga is a perfect circle. So, the student

must devide in half. One for the right hand, and

the other for the left hand.

Never the hands can leave this position.

To master, or learn the first 3 sounds which are:

Bass, Open tones, and the Cuban Pops.

The Bass is located on the middle of the head. It is a 

strong sound, and needs a lot of force, and energy.

The tone is gentle with the hand using the 4 fingers

together, and with out to much force.

The sound comes up just the weight of your hands,

and is done on the ring area of the circle.

the Pop is a strong sound, done with force, and

coping the hand when you hit the head.

It is located on the same spot of the tones.

The First Elemental 4/4 Bass Beat.

Code Name "Cafe con Pan"

 

My Teacher Told me at the Beggining: The fact about to really be a god Conguero; we have to be a good Bass Drumer on the congas. Historical the Hand "TON-TON" was the Bass from Primitive times.

This beat is given to the student with One drum. When Master this beat, Then he will learn it with more congas. 

So, Lets Describe or Teach The First Elementa 4/4 Bass Beat: The Beat started with the left hand at the First Movement or Strike. Left hand first, and then the right hand on the bass area which sounds ( TA-TAN) with open hands. For the bass sound you have to apply a lot of force and energy.

The Second Move is a tone Sound.  You do it with the right hand. To close or finish the beat, and that the beat goes the last move or strike is with right hand on the Bass. 

This is how the beat has to sound: "TATAN-TUN-TAN" The Tun is the open tone. The the TATAN is the Bass. this way, the beat is not complete.  The student has to master this part to get the whole beat.

This is pure Theory, I will post photos or Diagrams to explain more clearly. We are working to insert videos to really expose very good the Beats of the 777MPS. 

The Key to master the Congas is to learn all the sounds the congas produce.  In my Previous Essay above is a list of all the sounds the congas are giving us with the two hands. All those sounds playing together will produce powerful Master Beats.
